Tasting- Finca del Castillo
Name: Finca del Castillo
Variety: Tempranillo
Region: La Manncha
Country: Spain
Year: 2011
Price: $4.95
Winery review: Rooty, spicy, and baked on the nose, with aromas that lean towards raisin. The palate is more gritty and acidic, with rasin, cola, and spice flavors. Darkens up on the finish, which is long and peppery, with adequate juiciness and a final note of tomato.
My review: The smell reminded me of dates more than raisins and the rooty smell was strong. Tasting the wine made my tongue tingle a bit. It was interesting. First time I had a wine make my tongue tingle from the spice and peppery taste.
I tasted this on its own with no food.
